Lockheed Martin Plans King of Prussia Expansion

Defense contracting giant Lockheed Martin Corp. plans to expand its operations in King of Prussia with a new 55,000-square-foot research facility. 

The proposed new project was scheduled to go in front of the Upper Merion Township planning commission on Wednesday but was tabled at the request of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT). The proposal will be revisited on Jan. 11. in facility, which is part of the company’s Space unit that builds satellites and spacecraft.

The expansion stretches 91 feet in height and two stories, according to documents filed with Upper Merion Township. The entire King of Prussia complex spans 90 acres and the new development would be built on 1.63 acres, the documents show. The research and manufacturing building would sit on the northwest side of Lockheed Martin’s campus at 230 Mall Blvd. just off Interstate 76 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
